Yay! I am sad to have missed it.
Geeks are my favorite people in the whole world... seriously.I left a reply on the MPR page, but here (if you're interested), is my love letter to geeks (Which I wrote about 6 weeks ago -- and which is a lot longer than 1500 characters): http://capriuni.livejournal.com/656482.html
Great column, as always.
Brilliant! I will have to attend a con someday.
Short, sweet, and relevant to my interests.
Another thing: some people call it "escapism" (i.e., "bad") to read LOTR, but these same people don't blink an eyelash at those who fly to Aruba to sit on the beach while a (shirtless Spaniard named Ramon/38-24-36 bikini-clad waitress named Bambi/take your pick) serves them margueritas. That's not "escapism"? Or "fantasy"?"We need fairy tales, not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us dragons can be beaten." -- G. K. Chesterton
This was awesome! My hat is off to you.
I love that SO MUCH!
Is tír aisteach í fós, nach bhfuil siad anois strainséirí."And the Geek shall inherit the Earth"
Clearly, I should go to a con one of these days. :)
